Pattern analysis and training
For people who notice a recurring pattern in how they think, react, or behave and want to change it.
For: Working with persistent thought and behavior patterns.
What is it?
A pattern is an automatic, learned way of dealing with a recurring problem, not a problem itself.
Pattern Analysis and Training is a new, personalized method to understand and change automatic patterns that you want to change but can’t. Instead of using general labels (like procrastination, avoidance, or rumination), it looks at what this way of doing things buys you and why it exists, so you know how to change it. Training then is not about trying to get rid of the pattern. It is about building skills that make the pattern unnecessary.
Who this is for:
This is for you if you keep ending up in the same situations or repeating the same mistakes and don’t fully understand why, if you clearly see what needs to change but seem unable to actually do it, or if you want to actively train new patterns, responses, or skills and could use professional support.
Sessions
All sessions are Virtual (zoom or equivalent)
1. Initial Session — 45 min, €45
This is a pilot session, after which you can decide whether this type of work is right for you. It also gives me a chance to see whether I can help and, if so, propose a path forward.
What happens during the session: This is mainly an open conversation about the issues you’re bringing. You describe your situation, I ask clarifying questions, and together we build an initial picture of what’s going on.
What you walk away with:
- The first map of the pattern (my session notes)
- A clear path forward, with a proposed type and number of sessions where applicable
- A list of relevant frameworks to read for free
Structure:
- €45 for a 45 minutes session
- Includes the pattern map—my notes from the session in the form of a diagram.
2. Analysis Sessions — 60 min, €70
The initial mapping provided a general picture. This phase discovers the pattern’s exact architecture: its function, where it shows up, and how.
What happens during the sessions:
I ask targeted questions to see how the pattern changes across situations (who is present or absent, when it is strongest or weakest). We then use an analogy (keyword) to make the pattern easier to understand and talk about, and to uncover its different parts and how they work together. We test these against your experience and history, to see whether they fit and help explain how the pattern developed.
From there, we look for the pattern’s function—what it is doing for you, what it protects, and what keeps it in place. We continue until you have a clear working model of how the pattern works, what its job is, and how to address it.
Structure:
- 60-minute sessions
- €70 or €300 for a 5-session package
3. Training Sessions — 45 min, €60
Training focuses on the capacities that are missing and that the pattern replaces.
What happens during the sessions:
We start by finding a humorous way to address the pattern, making it easier to notice, interrupt, and become curious about it. The training is then homework-heavy - between sessions, you will do experiments and challenges in low-stakes situations, observing what happens, taking notes, and trying new ways of doing things. We bring these discoveries into the sessions and use them, together with frameworks from the website, to build skills and healthier patterns.
Structure:
- €60 per 45-minute session (one every two weeks)
- €270 for 5-session package, including one email exchange between sessions
- Extra email exchanges: €30 per exchange
